Diabetic Beans reflects on sculptural transformation through consumption. A homage to the relationship between nourishment and form, this sculpture considers the intimate individuation of food as it is assimilated; subsequently becoming the body that consumes it.
A series of cast makeup sponges, caught and contorted within cast shower curtain rings, balance upon aluminium cans. Half of the casts are wax, the other half bronze. All are finished with oil paint to look identical. The only differentiating factor is the individual weight of each object, which distorts the cans as they rest open.
